Description:

A World in Motion helps students develop skills working as members of a team, listening, observing, measuring, organizing information, thinking, decision making, problem solving, and speaking as it reinforces basic skills in reading, writing, and math. Teachers work in partnership with practicing engineer volunteers to provide students with fun, exciting, and relevant hands-on science and math experiences.

A World in Motion Part 1 kits are provided free of charge to teachers in public, private or parochial schools, grades 4 – 6. Kits contain a teacher’s guide, helpful booklets with ideas for implementing the program, recognition certificates, posters, and an introduction video. Experiments are designed using expendable household items such as milk cartons, straws, and paper clips.

A World in Motion Part 2 kits are designed for middle school team teaching, grades 7 – 8. The kits contain materials to construct model toy cars and gliders. The projects involve math, science, English, and social studies teachers, and the students learn that these subjects are all necessary to solve interdisciplinary problems.

The American Society of Association Executives awarded this program its Summit Award, its highest recognition.
