When I first started this web site, I included lists of links that would be beneficial to science educators. I have decided to bring some of those links back see links. I thought it might also helpful to provide some information on search engines which might help our members to find their own lists of favorites.

Single search engines

Without a doubt Google is my personal favorite and the favorite of many others. A very nice feature is that it allows a second or third search within the initial results. This is very handy for refining a search.

Metasearch engines

These search engines use multiple examples of single search engines to yield a larger variety of “hits”.

My favorite is Dogpile For help for Dogpile.

MetaEureka is another metasearch engine.

Pandia is yet another. They also have a nice document explaining searching techniques here.

Another site is ProFusion.com Advanced search features for ProFusion can be found here

Vivisimo is a metaseach engine that claims to present more organized results.

Ithaki has a kid-safe search feature which might meet be to your liking.
