To Whom It May Concern:

The science department at Early College High School is planning to have a science fair for our high school students on January 14, 2005 in the library at Cleveland State University.  As you know this involves obtaining qualified individuals to serve as judges of the exhibits. It has been our experience that science educators and professionals make the best judges. Not only do they have the professional background to judge an exhibit on the grounds of its scientific merit, but they also realize the abilities of the students. We need judges in the areas of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences/Ecology and Earth Science.           It would be a great honor to have you serve as a judge on January 14, 2005. I invite you to serve as a judge on January 14, 2005 from 8:30AM to 1:30PM, in the library of Cleveland State University. There will be a continental breakfast served before the judging begins and a light lunch after the judging. Please notify us by email (John_Fellenstein@adelphia.net), or respond in writing by fax or to the address above at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

John Fellenstein

                               Opportunities for Teachers

The Center for Mathematics and Science Education, Teaching and
Technology (CMSETT) at John Carroll University is hosting a Linking Data Symposium on Monday and Tuesday, December 6 & 7, 2004 at the Dolan Center for Science and Technology. The focus of the two day event is to “educate” curriculum directors and other administrators, with a direct responsibility for their district’s curriculum implementation, on the importance of professional development for their teachers in the use of statistics in school curriculum in mathematics, science and social
studies. Benchmarks and Grade level indicators in these Ohio standards
include expectations for students to understand how to appropriately
gather, organize, analyze and report data. Support from the Martha
Holden Jennings Foundation allow this symposium to be offered at a
reduced cost of $50 per person (fee includes one follow-up in the
spring). Registration is limited to thirty administrators.

Contact Norm Schmidt for registration, or other additional, information
