Campaign
for Web Excellence
I
would like to share with you what the East Tennessee Local Section recently did
to help the Institute. This past August we received a check from our colleagues
in the eastern part of the

long ago, we invited you to join us in building a better, more powerful
www.aiche.org by participating in AIChE's Campaign for Web Excellence. Since we
last wrote, contributions made to the Campaign for Web Excellence have increased
to $135,000. This represents great progress but we're not there yet.
As
you know, the goal of this campaign is to raise funds for the upgrade of the
AIChE Web site. And while the revamped site has launched we are still short of
completely funding this project. That's why I am writing today. Once again we
are asking you to participate in this important campaign and we have reserved
space on the www.aiche.org "Builder's Wall" for your Local Section.
As
one of our most committed volunteer leaders, a committed Local Section leader,
someone who puts "passion into action" for the betterment of your
profession, we hope you will demonstrate your "can-do" attitude and
respond now. Your Local Section's collective gift of $1,000, or your individual
gift of $100-in short, whatever you are comfortable giving-will be most
appreciated.
AIChE's
new, improved Web site reflects up-to-date Internet technology with greater
functionality, enhanced information access, and easier navigation. It will be
more efficient and responsive in meeting the online needs of Local Sections and
serve to strengthen their online presence.
Plus,
it incorporates tools for Local Section members and leaders including
downloadable membership reports, a discussion group for Local Section leaders,
FAQs, an online Activities Directory and more. The first generation AIChE Web
site was built with funds from people personally involved with, influenced and
inspired by what the Institute has to offer. With your Local Section's gift to
the Campaign for Web Excellence, you and your members can join that select
group.
To
date, we have raised 50% of the funds committed to finance the upgraded
www.aiche.org. We are fortunate in that the AIChE Board of Directors committed
to help raise funds and 100% of the Board has contributed to the Campaign for
Web Excellence. We'd like to be able to say that 100% of our Local Sections have
also supported this important project.
No
matter how much your Local Section chooses to give, the AIChE community will
benefit because when it comes to rebuilding the AIChE Web site all gifts are
worthwhile.
So
